It's 5am, In A Field, With Your Bike, And You Want a Latte? Cool.

Have you ever wondered how one could make a hot, foamy cappuccino in the middle of a wheat field with no running water and no power at 5am in 25 degree weather? We hadn't either until we thought it would be fun to make espresso drinks at Cycle Oregon. If we only knew what it entailed when we had the idea.

That idea was about 2 years ago. Last year was the first time we actually did it and while it was a ton of work and a logistical nightmare, we pulled it off. We'll be pulling it off again this September 8-15th on the 25th Anniversary Cycle Oregon. It's an amazing feat. Frothing gallons and gallons of milk. Pulling thousands of espresso shots. Brewing hundreds and hundreds of gallons of smooth Teodoro's Italian Roast. And doing it for 7 straight days, on the road, in a different location each morning, for thousands of lucky cyclists in some of the most beautiful places in the country.

The whole experience is so amazing that our friend Randy tried to capture what a typical morning is like. Check out his short video that starts at 4am and runs to 10am - in time lapse of course. Hopefully we'll see you on the ride this year, but if not, at least you'll have an idea of what you missed.

New Location & New Transport

We grew up! We're still a small little operation but we've been growing quite a bit over the last 6 months.

We used to warehouse our coffee in Augusto's basement (6 stairs down in case you were wondering) and run the business out of the attic of his house. No more.

New Seasons Market - ConcordiaNossa Familia now has a real live warehouse in inner SE Portland. It is from here that all amazing things transpire. But one big change in a month isn't ever enough so we thought we would buy ourselves a new vehicle to go in our new warehouse.

The Nossa Familia Sprinter van is an amazing vehicle! It gets 24mpg fully loaded in the city, runs on a mixture of biodiesel, and is a blast to drive. And while it transports copius amounts of coffee and brewing equipment, it also will double as an amazing mobile espresso cafe at Cycle Oregon.

So keep an eye out for us on the road. If the van's in front of you, it's probably because we drank more coffee than you that morning - so honk at us and we'll hand you a bag through the window Grey Poupon style.
